Trail information

Trail sections

  • Wesley Chapel Rd. — Pfeiffer gym  0.52 miles This section of the trail winds through the woods, following Curl Tail Creek behind Pfeiffer University. There is a parking lot at the gym and bathrooms inside the building (which may be locked during university breaks).
  • Pfeiffer gym — Culp Rd.   0.79 miles This section begins at Pfeiffer gym, where there is a parking lot and bathrooms (though the building may be locked during university breaks). It continues through the woods and along the creek, exiting the woods along the edge of a field, and ends up at Culp Rd.
  • Along Culp Rd.    0.25 miles At Culp Rd. the trail crosses the road and follows the road for 0.25 miles.
  • Culp Rd. — Richfield Park   1.11 miles When the trail veers east off of Culp Road, it travels through varying terrain and habitats until reaching Richfield Park. At Richfield Park are a parking lot, a disc golf course, ball fields, a memorial in honor of veterans, a memorial in honor of teachers, a small lake, and a covered bridge.
  • Richfield Park — Tyson Park  0.8 miles Leaving Richfield Park, the trail crosses Hwy 49 and then follows Curl Tail Creek along the edge of a field, crosses Main St. in Richfield, and follows Main St. southeast for a short stretch before heading east on Deese Road. The first branch off the south side of the main trail travels 0.25 miles to Richfield Elementary School. The next branch off the south side of the main trail encircles the west and south sides of Tyson Park while the main trail continues down Deese Rd. and then follows the eastern side of Tyson Park. These two trails then meet up again to head east along the edge of the woods to the northern end of Danritch Drive, and follows Danritch Drive south to Hwy 52. The section of the trail from Tyson Park to where Danritch Drive meets Hwy 52 is  0.67 miles.

Our trails are part of the ever-expanding network of the Carolina Thread Trail.

Our original “Falcon Trail” trail is about 2.6 miles and the new “Tom Webb” section about another 2 miles.

We are actively working to extend the trail further at both ends, for a total length of 9.5 miles. The third section of the trail, currently in the planning stages, will be a northwesterly extension from Wesley Chapel Road in Misenheimer to Glenmore Road in Gold Hill, ultimately connecting to the Gold Hill Rail Trail.   We are currently working to acquire rights-of-way to continue the trail in the easterly direction towards New London.
